UTM Builder

Paste a destination, fill the campaign fields, and get a correctly encoded UTM URL in a fixed, consistent order. Unrelated parameters and the fragment are preserved; every decision is reported.

What does the UTM Builder do?

UTM parameters are the analytics tags marketers append to links: utm_source (where the traffic comes from), utm_medium (the channel type), utm_campaign (the campaign name), utm_term (the paid keyword), and utm_content (the creative variant). The builder appends them in a fixed order with correct URL encoding — including Unicode values — while preserving everything unrelated already in the destination: parameters, their order, their raw encoding, and the fragment. Existing canonical UTMs are overwritten field-by-field or kept; duplicates collapse deterministically to the last occurrence; and every one of these decisions is reported back as a warning so the output is never a surprise.

Why tag links consistently?

  • Consistent tagging makes analytics trustworthy: one campaign name spelled three ways is three campaigns in your reports. A fixed parameter order and deterministic output keep tags comparable.
  • Correct encoding matters — spaces, ampersands and Unicode inside values silently break tracking when encoded by hand. The builder escapes properly and never re-encodes already-encoded parameters.
  • Nothing is stored. Generated URLs exist only in your browser session; no campaign data reaches the server's storage.
  • Credentials in URLs are refused. If the destination carries user:password information, the builder refuses instead of producing a link that leaks it.

How to use it

Paste the destination URL, fill in the fields your analytics needs (only utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign are common requirements; term and content are for paid campaigns), and press Generate. Copy the result or open it directly. The notes section reports overwritten values, skipped empty fields, and collapsed duplicates. For analyzing the tags of an existing link, use the URL Analyzer or the Redirect Checker's UTM comparison.
