What is an uptime check?

An uptime check sends a single safe HTTP request to the address you enter and reports whether the site answered: availability, the HTTP status code and text, total response time, the final URL after redirects, and the TLS certificate state. A 404 or 500 still means the site is up — the application answered with an error.

Why check uptime?

  • Confirm an outage: check whether a site is down for everyone or just for you.
  • Diagnose quickly: the failure type (timeout, DNS, TLS, connection) points at the likely cause.
  • Verify migrations and deploys: make sure the new address answers with a healthy status.
  • Check links before sharing: avoid sending people to a dead or looping destination.

What you get

One instant check with the classified result: Website is up or the specific failure reason, HTTP status and response time, final URL, redirect count, and TLS validity. Private and internal network targets are detected and never contacted.
